Credential Issuance(Openbadges)

Once a credential template is created, it can be issued as a credential to learners in the form of OpenBadges. There are two ways to issue these credentials: through the Enrollment Module and via Quick Credential Issuance directly to learners on SOLO without any enrollment. When credentials are issued, attributes in the badge and certificate design will be automatically replaced with respective data. Both methods support bulk issuance, ensuring efficient and scalable credentialing.

Enrollment Credential Issuance

Upon the successful completion of an opportunity, the relevant educational institution or employer provides the option to issue a digital credential using SOLO's Enrollment Management module.

Issuing the Credential using the Enrollment Module

  1. Go to Enrollment Approvals:
    • Navigate to the 'Enrollment Requests' section and mark the completion of learning for the recipient.
    • Once marked as complete, it will show up in the 'Completed' list.

  1. Issue Credential:
    • Click on 'Issue Credential' for the completed opportunity, Or multiselect enrollment requests and click on ‘ Bulk Issue’ for bulk issuance.
    • From the dropdown, select the template you created earlier.
    • You’ll see a preview of the selected badge and certificate designs. Select issuance and expiry date.
    • Click 'Save' to start the issuance process.

  1. Viewing the Issued Credential:
    • Once the process is complete, you can view the credential in the institution's Credential page.
    • Learners can visit their profile to see the newly issued credential and view their OpenBadge version 2.0 and 3.0 credentials by clicking on 'View Credential'.

Additional Features:

  • Re-issue Credential: Allows institutions and corporations to make necessary changes if needed.
  • View Credential Page: The issued credentials, including badge and certificate images, along with the OpenBadge 2.0 and 3.0 version credential JSONs and other details, are made public. Individuals can share it on social platforms as well as on the SOLO platform.
  • Revoke Credential: Credential can be revoked by clicking on the Revoke credential link.

Quick Credential Issuance

The Quick Credential Issuance feature allows organizations to issue credentials directly from the credential template page without using the Enrollment Management module. This is particularly useful when there are no enrollments attached to the credential or when the organization prefers a faster issuance process.

Steps for Quick Credential Issuance

  1. Navigate to Credential Template Page:
    • Go to the credential template page where your templates are listed.
  2. Click on 'Issue Credential':
    • Click on the 'Issue Credential' button next to the relevant credential template.
  3. Select Learner:
    • A popup will appear prompting you to select a SOLO learner, Issuance Date and Expiry Date.
    • Choose the learner to whom you want to issue the certificate and select dates.
  4. Issue Credential:
    • After selecting the learner, click on 'Save' to issue the credential.

This streamlined process allows institutions and companies to quickly and efficiently issue digital credentials without the need for managing enrollments. It is ideal for scenarios where rapid credentialing is necessary or where enrollment data is not required.

By using the Credential Issuance Platform, institutions and employers can ensure a streamlined and efficient credentialing process, providing both institutions and learners with a reliable and verifiable system of achievements.

Bulk Credential Issuance

Institutions or employers can easily issue multiple credentials at once using the bulk issuance feature on SOLO. This way the credentials can be issued directly to the recipient's email without the need of inviting them separately on SOLO.

Steps to Issue Credentials in Bulk

  1. Navigate to My Credential Templates Page: Go to the credential template page where your templates are listed.

  2. Select Bulk Issuance: Click on the "Bulk Issuance" option. This will take you to a dedicated page for bulk issuing credentials.

  1. Import Learner Details: On the bulk issuance page, click the "Import" button. You will be prompted to choose a credential template and upload a file containing the learner details.

  2. Upload Learner Data File: Upload Learner Details File: The file should include essential information such as the learner’s email, first name, last name, issue date, and expiration date of the credential. If you are unsure about the file format, click on "Download Sample File" to obtain a template that guides you on structuring the data correctly.

  1. Issue Credentials: Once the file is uploaded and validated, click on the "Upload" button to issue the credentials to all the learners listed in the file.

By following these steps, you can easily and efficiently issue credentials in bulk, ensuring a streamlined process for managing large groups of recipients.

View Credential (OpenBadges)

The "View Credential" page is a publicly accessible page that learners can use to showcase their credentials. It displays detailed information about the credentials, including:

  • Credential Name: The name of the credential.
  • Description: A brief overview of what the credential represents.
  • Skills Earned: The skills that the learner has acquired.
  • JSON Representation: A technical view of the credential in JSON format.
  • Credential Status: Indicates whether the credential is verified, unverified, or self-issued.
  • QR Code: It also shows credential embedded QR code which could be scanned to import credential into the wallet.

Sharing and Managing Credentials

On the right side of the page, there are options to:

  • Share on Social Media: Directly share the credential on various social media platforms.
  • Copy Link: Copy the link to share the credential.
  • Add to LinkedIn: Add the credential to a LinkedIn account by clicking on the "Add to LinkedIn" button.

When this page is shared, recipients can view all details of the credentials, providing a comprehensive view of the learner's achievements and the verification status of each credential.
